"Kiwi Bird" pendant plated in 22ct gold plate with paua shell in the middle.
14mm x 20mm
i think this pendant was made to represent New Zealand because of the Kiwi as it is a native bird of New Zealand. i like the whole concept of this pendant, i also like how theres paua shell in the middle aswell.
"Silver Fern" Brooch 22ct gold plate
This brooch is made out of gold. the brooch is an silver fern a popular symbol recognised to New Zealanders. the silver fern is originally from a native tree in new zealand. it also is the logo for the "all blacks" &silver ferns witch are both the rugby and netball teams of New Zealand. what i enjoy the most about this piece of work is that it looks sleek. i also like the shape of the fern.

Jewellery And Me
Pounamu pendant.
Height: 1.5 inches. / 4cm
This pendant is made from several types of hard, durable and highly valued nephrite jade, bowenite, serpentinite found in southern NewZealand. Pounamu is the maori name. This beautiful intertwined Double Twist Pendant is carved in such a way that the two strands of the greenstone are separate. The greenstone is from the Haast area on the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand. It is hung on a plaited, waxed polyester cord and has a greenstone toggle at one end. This is a traditional jewellery to Maoris. The Double Twist shows a bonding of friendship, two lives becoming one for all eternity

Chinese Jade.
Jade is called Yu in Chinese. There are two types of Jade: nephrite and jadeite
Chinese Jade.
Nephrite and Jadeite are not classified as gems, but as rocks because they are formed by mineral aggregates instead of crystals.
China has used Jade in ritual ceremonies from around 5000 B.C. to 1700 B.C.
For centuries upon centuries in China, Jade has been revered as a precious thing to possess. The people often believed, and to this day some continue to believe, that the stone possesses certain properties that make it possible to communicate with spirits. For an immense period of time, Jade has been tied to Chinese culture. In order to worship the Chinese’ God of heaven, the people would carve jade into “Pi”: or small circular plates, to place in front of the idol to receive spiritual blessings. Besides uses in their religious practices, Jade also served other purposes in their daily life
Jewellery And Me.

3000 B.C
Made from copper, silver or gold.
They can large or small.
Amulets were incorporated into Egyptian jewelry or worn as independent pieces. Amulets are charms or talismans believed to either protect the wearer or infuse him with power. Egyptian amulets were carved into various forms and shapes, such as animals, humans, gods and symbols. The amulets were equally important protectors of the living as they were armor of the dead. Specific amulets were made for the afterlife, as funerary jewelry was customary in ancient Egypt. I think they made these amulets because it makes the wearer feel more safe as it has a lot of meaning. It's like a pounamu to a Maori.

Screen Print
Robert Rauchenburg.
Date: 1967
Medium: lithograph and screen print.
Size: 183.4 x 90.4 cm
This art screen print looks like its about a persons life. there are pictures of someones x ray of their body, charts, qoutes, maps and drawings little drawings of people in it. I like how there x ray is big and the most out standing thing in the print, i also like how he draws over the prints.I think in this image there was a drawing done below before the x ray print, with prints around and on it. then there's the red image printed right over it.
Date: 1989
Medium:screen print.
This print looks like its about earth and space. there are pictures of earth life then as you get to the top there's picture's of space. This print doesn't has as much overlaying in it. I think that the first print that was done first was the yellow then the flowers over the top, and up the top overlayed like a grid. I like the pictures that Robert Rauchenburg printed, because it looks like it tells a story between earth and space.

Portraiture painting.
Steven Allwood.
I like this portrait done Steven Allwood because of how he painted of a reflection of himself in the glasses that she's wearing. I also like the hair and that its a close up.
This is another one of Stevens All woods paintings .I like this portrait done of the hare because it looks real.
Peter Stichbury.
I like this portrait because her skin tone looks nice and her eyes are a pretty blue colour and it stands out.
i also like this portrait because the way he paints in sharp and tidy.
This is another painting of a portrait done by peter stichbury because it is nicely painted. and the painting looks very clean.
This is my finished portrait of Nia. i used oil paint on a canvas i had put together. i also experienced with acrylic paint for the background. The colours for the flesh were hard to mix to get the right tone. I enjoyed doing the jumper and the hair because it wasn't as hard as the face. if there was anything i would change from the portrait ill do the features on the face more realistic looking.
New Zealand Painting
Natasha Shackleton.
This is a new zealand painting done by Natasha Shackleton named "beyond the canvas".
Natsha Shackleton paints kiwiana inspired art. her art works are recognised for her use of vivid colour, lighting and strong contrasts.i chose this painting to do a response to because of the birds.
This is my response to Natsasha Shackletons painting. In my response to her original painting i painted everything accept the birds and some of the plants from the front. i did this for my response to make the painting have a dead feeling with no birds and nature as to hers its more alive.

Historical posters
Date:1943
This poster was used to warn the harm in wasting food. I think if this poster was used today i think people will a proper think about how they use and eat their food. And save more food then just throwing it out, and encourage them to buy food more wisely and cook carefully.
J.Howard Miller.Date:1942
This poster was used to help recruit woman into the work force, and participate in more man like jobs. This poster would be quite inspiring nowadays to sent out a message to younger woman that they cant do work like men. I think this because not just men can do hard jobs woman can too.
Date:1959this poster was used to make people use the shell gas station. If this poster was used today it would notify people to get gas from the shell station. maybe the gas is cheaper and the quality is better? i think that so that the shell station can get more costumers to full up at their station apart from others.
